Avinash Paliwal is the Deputy Director of the SOAS South Asia Institute. He previously taught Defence Studies at King’s College, London, and was a Defence Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the same university. An international relations scholar, Dr Avinash Paliwal specialises in South Asian politics and security issues. He is the author of the much-acclaimed bookMy Enemy’s Enemy: India in Afghanistan from the Soviet Invasion to the U.S. Withdrawal(2017).
